History
In 2004, a pug owner who was moving asked Becky Callin, a founding member of CFPR, if she would take in her little lady Peewee, care for her, & possibly find a new home. A few months went by and Becky did find Peewee (now known as Mimi) a new home. Little did we know at the time that little Miss Mimi would become our very first rescue andthat we would eventually become an incorporated, non-profit pug rescue.
We all realized there was a void in the central Florida area concerning pug rescue, care and adoption. Somehow word spread that we were here and willing to help those in need. During the next year and half, operating unofficially, we received many calls and emails from other rescues in Florida and even some neighboring states asking if we would help them. We were very happy to help out in any way we could. After all it is for the well being of the pug no matter where they were. So, as an unofficial rescue we took in, cared for and placed ten pugs. With the blessings and encouragement from all our pug friends in the central Florida area, we decided to officially incorporate and get our 501c3 papers filed….hence CFPR was born in June of 2006. Our hope is to continue helping all pugs in need in our area, as well as assisting our friends in our “sister” rescues throughout Florida and neighboring states.
