Hey pug friends, CFPR has an amazing raffle taking place right now.

It is an oil painting of a PUG ( duh). But the coolness of this painting is that it is painted by Brenda Philips who is the grand-niece of CLAUDE MONET. She is a prominent artist in the St. Augustine community.

This is Willow, a sweet little pug girl that has had some real medical issues lately! She came into rescue heartworm positive and had a bad reaction to her second treatment. Its that time of year again! Feb 4th from 8am until 2pm. CFPR will be holding a garage sale.

100% of the money raised will be going to vet care for our pugs. Just in the month of January so far, we have a pug needing surgery for his eyes, treated injuries for a pug hit by a car, and treated a pug who had a reaction to treatment for heart worms that spent the weekend at the emergency vet. Our pugs need your support!

Update 1/15/12:
After 3 years, I was returned to CFPR due to no fault of my own. My mommy is heartbroken but made the best decision for us both. I’m now 10 years old and is blind and deaf. I get cyclosporine drops 2 times a day for my dry eyes. Don’t let my handicap fool you, my nose take me anywhere I want to go. I can locate any lonesome lost food in the house that is begging to be eaten. I would like a nice soft spot in bed with you at night so I can feel safe and sleep through the night. I also do fine in a dog bed but you will catch me looking for you in the middle of the night to ensure me I am safe. My favorite spot during the day is my bed in mommy’s closet when she is gone. I like to walk around to explore things and when I get tired, I find my bed there and rest up. Due to my handicap, I would like to find a home with older children or none.

I get along with my foster brothers and sisters as I am easy going. I am learning the layout of my foster home and can find where I need to go out and will tell you. The best part in my foster home is when my mommy holds me, rubs me and shower me with kisses. I feel so safe in her arms so I quickly fall asleep. I don’t ask for much, just a warm spot in bed, some food in my tummy and someone to love me. If you think you have the perfect home for me, please put my name on the application.

Update: 1/21/12: I had my one month follow up visit today. My skin has improved tremendously, however, I still need a little more time to fully heal. I will continue on antibiotic therapy for two months, along with a Benadryl to combat any itching during the healing process. Weekly baths with Malasab shampoo will continue. I am completely housebroken and get along well with others. I have a great appetite and has adjusted very well to the routine in the house.

Hi There! I’m Chumley and I just weighed in at the vet at 23 pounds of love! I am approximately 7 years old, but I act younger and love to play. I do have some skin issues from a food allergy that was not addressed which has led to itching and biting. I did end up with a bacterial infection, but the doctor has put me on Cephalexin and Xymox daily for a month. I am on a special food called Orijen Six Fish which has digestive enzymes and an immune builder. This will help me combat my infection and yeast. I should be back to my handsome self in no time! Hello there! My name is Maggie, I am a 6 year old female. I came into rescue as an emergency and had to have life saving surgery. I also had to have a lump removed and that unfortunately was a mast cell tumor. Yes that is a cancerous tumor, but I can live a very long healthy life since it has been removed. There is a slight chance another one may show up but I am a very healthy happy girl since having my surgeries so the chances are not that high.

I would do best in a home with someone who is home a lot and maybe one other dog but I need to eat in my own area. Sometimes I can be a little bossy when it comes to my food and toys. I love to cuddle and take rides in the car and I am at your feet all the time! I love to have my human right next to me. I am a vocal girl too, I love to tell you how much I love you and I will also tell you when I need you to pay attention to me as well.

I am spayed, micro chipped and up to date on my shots and ready to find my forever home! If you think you have room in your heart and your home please fill out an application today and ask for me MAGGIE!!!

Baxter has been found!

Baxter has been found! Thank you to everyone involved in bringing him home safely! He is home with his family resting peacefully tonight.

Update: January 2012: I began my hearworm treatment this week and unfortunately I am having a very bad reaction to the medicine. I spent the weekend at the emergency vet and have been on IV fluids for several days. I am currently under 24 monitoring and care. My vet bills are going up. If you can, please help the rescue help me. Any amount large or small goes 100% toward my vet care. If you would like to donate, please click on the donate button below. Hi Everyone! I’m Willow and I have just arrived in rescue. I am settling in to my foster home nicely and so far, my foster family is great! I am heartworm positive so I will be undergoing treatment for that. We expect it will take around 6-8 weeks for me to complete that treatment. I am around 2 years old, so I should pull through treatment well. I will still need all my shots as well. Please check back soon for an update on how I’m doing and to learn a little bit more about me.
