Joey
Congratulations Joey on your forever home!
Joey here. Or as my foster mom likes to call me, “Old Man Joe”.
It’s not so much because of my age, which is about 10, but because of my attitude towards life. I’ve been around and seen it all (including some really hard times) and these days I am happy to live in semi-retirement, you know, joining the guys for breakfast at the local diner, a golf game or two, cocktails at four and the early-bird special for dinner, followed by falling asleep in front of the television. Just don’t ask me to wear any plaid Bermuda shorts…I’m not THAT retired!
Like most seasoned gentlemen, I’m not perfect…my sight isn’t what it used to be, though I get around just fine, and I could stand to lose a few lbs. (but then couldn’t we all?). On the other hand, I am fully housebroken, neutered, love nice long slow walks and have perfect manners. I would never think of getting up on the furniture unless specifically invited! I get along with everyone, including other dogs and cats, but my true passion in life is for my humans. Need someone to nap with? I am a great cuddler and just LOVE naps. Need someone to share that early bird special? Well, DINNER is my middle name! I’ll even help you out with that diet you’ve been meaning to go on…we can BOTH decrease our kibble and extend the evening walk.
Seriously, are you thinking about retirement or are already there and need someone to share it? I’m the pug for you…just contact CFPR and ask for the Old Man…they will know you mean me!
Adoption Fee $200

Can a Flagler County resident from Palm Coast (north of Daytona Beach, and south of St. Augustine) adopt from Central Florida Pug Rescue?
Thanks
Tracy,
We have adopted many pugs to wonderful families that live in Flagler County. Joey is agreeable to living up there.
Also- forgot to ask, is he potty trained?
Thanks
Joey is in training. His former owners didn’t work with him, but his foster mom is dedicated to getting him fully housebroken. He wears belly bands while in the house to avoid any accidents.
hi tracy im joey’s foster mom and joey is a great dog. i keep his belly band on him just so we don’t have any accidents. he loves to be with you at all times but can be left alone. he has some eyesight loss but does really well getting around. he does not get on the furniture but loves to have you pick him up and sleep in bed with you. he loves to have a bath and thinks everytime someone turns the water on in the bath tub it is for him. he so laid back and loves when you give him belly rubs. he deserves a great forever home because he really didn’t have a good one before. he is the best.
Hi Ann,
First, I would like to complement this organization…I think the correspondence, and the adoption process between foster moms and potential pug moms are excellent here! Yes, I want to adopt a pug, but I personally feel June (I have summers off) would be best to help my new pug get acclimated to his new surroundings. Because I do work 8-4:30 during a school year, and live alone, I would like to ease my pug into the transition of my working schedule rather than thrust him into it as soon as he arrives. There will most likely be frequent visits during the week from his new grandparents, who live 8 minutes away, once they fall in love with him! If you would like to email me, I will send my address. I know June is a long way off and realize Joey will most likely be adopted by then. When would be a good time to send in an application if I plan on adopting in June? Thanks.
hi Tracy thanks for being so considerate towards placing a pug in your home. You can check the website in the end of May and maybe you might find your forever pug, then submit your application and your life will be changed forever. Once you love a pug you couldn’t be happier, they are the best!!!!
Sounds great, thanks!
Have submitted a application for Joey and some others just in case joey is already taken. He looks like our current but terminally ill “son” Pugsley. We would love to have Joey join our other “son” Zeus who is also a Pug. Hope he is still available for us.
hi dina im joey’s foster mom and yes he is still available. i will be at the petco at altamonte springs tomorrow with joey if you would like to meet him. he is a sweetie. hope to see you there.
Ann…I live in Tamarac, FL so Altamonte Springs is a bit of a drive, however we are VERY interested in Joey! We have filled out an application for him, but haven’t heard anything. Instead we heard about George who is darling, but we are really interested in Joey.
hi dina, joey is a great dog. he does have eye issues, dry eye and somewhat loss of vision. he has to have drops for his eyes everyday. he weighs in around 29 pounds and loves to have a bath. when he came into the rescue he was in really bad shape but he is doing great. he likes to chew on nylabones but doesn’t play with the other pugs. he likes to be next to his human friends. he wont get up on the furniture but i pick him up and he sleeps in bed with the rest of my dogs and me. im sure with daily walks he will start trimming down, he needed to great healthy first before i worked on his figure. he is a sweetie.
Thank you for the e-mail.My pugs name is tiffeny, she is all black witk one white spot on her back toe she is 2 years old and VERY loved and miss by her family.I will give a reward for her return.Thank you for your help.
God bless you! Donna Van Dyke
ps your post it about my dogs eyes made me cry!
Joey is still waiting for his forever home. He is such a sweet loving boy. He will be at Altamonte Springs Petco this coming Saturday April 17th, please come and see him and just maybe he will find his forever family.
I just wrote such a lengthly reply and I believe at was lost by a press of a button. In case you did get it, I wont go into all the detail I had before. You may remember me, I have Babie and Buddy, two pugs that I adopted together from you guys I think now it has been almost 2 years. They are 10 and 12. I love my pugs dearly, Buddy cant see and Babie has eye issues also, has to have something put in everyday. Joey looks like a sweet guy, and I thought he might like to join my furry family. My dogs are my family, I live here alone with my babies. I think Joey would like it here, the dogs rule the house, I am just their human. I am even getting a larger bed (king size) so we can all sleep spread out, but of course we really like to cuttle in a big lump. I think Joey would like it here as a forever home. Cindy
Hi Cindy,
I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but your name is familiar to me from seeing you on our adoption database. Joey is a sweet, gentle pug. He cannot see, just shadows, and does have some potty accidents from time to time. I know his foster mom uses belly bands with him and that helps some. If you are truely interested, please fill out an application for him and our Adoption Coordinator will get in touch with you to discuss more about Joey. She will also put you in touch with his foster mom.
Thanks, Dana-Foster Coordinator
I filled out the application for Joey, I hope I gave you enough information that you could get an idea of how Joey would fit in my family, my Buddy has about the same site issues as Joey and he has no problem. I hope Joey gets out in the sun today, my babies love to lay in the sun so I have the door open to the back, they go in and out as they please. I didnt know his size for a collar but since Becky’s business is going out of business, I got him a collar, just in case, all his own. I believe in keeping colars on the dogs even though they stay in the yard, you just never know, once the Gas man left my gate open and I was chasing dogs all over. I now have a fence before the gate, so that can never happen again. Frenchies think it is a game of chase, my pugs stayed with me. I hope to hear from you soon, I would enjoy talking to the foster mom when she has time to write. I know some foster moms have several dogs with them and they are so busy. I am truly interested in list little boy, oh, and buddy said there was nothing wrong with a little extra meat on his bones, Buddy says it makes it look like he lifts weights for the women
Cindy
Hi Cindy,
I know April received your application. She should be in touch with you soon.

Thank you Dana, I appreciate your help. I am sure I am starting to drive you guys nuts with my notes, I just know that you want to make the best match for your babies. I hope you know I would take very good care of Joey, but if you have other thoughts, I do have an open mind, thats how I got my two sweethearts, I will try and be patient and will wait to hear from Joey’s foster mom. Thank you again, Cindy
Wanted to check in with Joey, I thought he might be thinking that I had forgotten him. I am taking care of a poor pug mix for a few days until he can go to a semi-perminent arrangement with a really nice girl named Annie. I havent changed my mind and I am looking forward to meeting you and your foster mom soon. I have been talking you up with my other pals and they are getting excited about having another pug amongs them. You take care of yourself joey, hopefully your forever home is not far away. Love, Cindy
I am getting very excited about Joey joining my little group of smushed faced dogs. I think he will love it here, so much to do, so many places to lay in luxury, dogs and bunnies to chase in the yard, sun bathing on the doggie cot, just all kinds of cool stuff. I even have a small wading pool that Berto likes to play in, maybe you are into water sports? if not, just laying in the sun chilling is what most of my babies do. I wrote back when I can be around this weekend but I didnt include sunday, I can work around you on that day, just have to do early morning meds for ma. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing Joey. Cindy
p.s. Dear Ann, can I make my donation to the rescue through pay pal? let me know because I can go to the bank tomorrow if you need cash. Let me know when you can
Hi Cindy,
You may make a donation through paypal, or just add an amount to Joey’s adoption fee, whichever is easier for you. Thank you in advance for your donation and for loving Joey.
