Zeke

Congratulations Zeke on your forever home!

Update: 5-1-11:  We are waiting to see if a new medication will work for me.  My rear legs are not working quite right and my foster mom is starting therapy and exercises with me along with the medication to see if it helps me.  Please check back to see how I’m doing.

Hello! My name is Zeke and I am a 5-year old fawn boy. I am up-to-date on my shots, microchipped, and neutered.

I have been through a lot in my short life so far.  I can’t remember everything about what I have been through but here is what I do know.  I do not have an enlarged heart as I originally thought.  I have had heart worms two times in my life and I have minor lung damage due to that.  No big deal though, I take medicine for that every day and I am doing well on it.

I cant tell you what happened to my feet, but I may have gotten them stuck in something. I was in a crate for 4 months so I may have hurt them in there.  They have healed over, but I do have scars.  If I get tired I will drag my feet, but as long as I am on grass, and not concrete, I do ok.

Since I have been in rescue, the doctor did an x-ray and we found that I have a narrow trachea.  I guess that is why I cough a little. T\Occassional treatments with a humidifier or steam seem to help me feel much better.

I am a sweet, loving boy and I just need to be loved.  I never want to go through what I went through before.  If you have a lap for me, please fill out an adoption application and ask for Zeke, ’cause that’s me. I’ll be your best pal.

Adoption Fee: $225

  1. I really think Zeke Zimmerman would make a great name for such a cute [and hansome] pug. I would like to be put on his list for a forever home. Sherry Zimmerman

      Hi Sherry,
I’m Zeke’s foster mom. He’s made great progress since he came to us. He is a very sweet boy with great manners. He gets along great with everyone including our pug and our Siamese cat. The rescue is discussing surgery options and hopefully he will be available for adoption soon. Fill out an adoption application if you haven’t already. Thanks for your interest!

We had Zeke for a day or so. We picked him up from W Palm and took him to Pug Rescue. He spent a couple of day at our house. He was very well behaved. All he wanted was a friend to be with. as I said very well behaved and very quiet. He will make someone a great dog. If we could have, we would have kept him. Don’t let a few minor health related problems keep you from bringing him home. If you do adopt him, he will be your pal forever He’s a keeper. Dave Wilcox

Hi there, Zeke here. Just wanted to let everyone know I’m excited to find a forever family in the new year. Since coming into rescue, I’ve gotten much stronger. You should see me run! And I almost never trip over my feet anymore. My coughing has almost completely stopped, although the vet says it may be seasonal, like allergies. I take my medicine with a little cream cheese twice a day with no problems. It’s really like an extra snack! I get along great with my foster pug sister and don’t even mind my snobby Siamese cat foster brother, although I like to bark at him from time to time. My foster mom says I’m a sweet, polite boy who just loves to be around people. If you have room in your heart and on your couch for me, please put in an application for Zeke!

Another sweet boy, sounds like he has had a rough time of it and deserves a warm, safe home with a family of people and pugs to love him. He looks like he is very happy now, foster mom, you have done such a great job with him. My dogs dont like cats much either, though at the vets one of them is afraid of them close up, I wont tell who, dont want to embarrass her. I am looking for another sweet pug to join my family, Joey is my first choice, but I know you guys who are around the dogs know what type of home they would fit best in. I hope to hear back soon from Dana after she reviews all my information. Keep up the good work with Zeke. Cindy

Zeke is so handsome! How are Zeke’s feet? Does he still take meds everyday? How is his cough doing? HOw do you treat him with steam/humidifier? He is a super cute guy!

    • Pug Rescue says:

      Hi Stacy,

Zeke’s front feet are doing a little better, but his back legs are being evaluated. He is on medication everyday for the damage he had to his lungs from being heartworm positive twice. His cough is much better and is not receiving humidifier treatments right now. We will be waiting to see how he does now that the weather is getting warmer.
