Tater

Update: 3/15/12:  Well, I have good news and bad news.  The good news is, my foster family was going to adopt me.  The bad news is I was just diagnosed with Myeloma.  This is a bone cancer.  My back end is already very weak.  We have already flushed my Kidneys to hopefully make it easier to filter.  Also, my mom has started me on milk thistle to help with bone strengthening, and I will be starting a high fat diet on a special food designed to help me as much as possible.  My foster family will see me through and I will remain with them for the rest of my days.  I did get my forever family after all.

Update: 2/29/12:  An application has already been received on this pug. We process adoption applications on a first-come, first-served basis, however there is no guarantee that a prior application will be accepted or an adoption take place. If you would like to be placed on the waiting list of potential adopters for this pug, please go ahead and file your application. If you would rather not wait for this pug, we encourage you to browse our other “Available” pugs to see if any others capture your heart, or file an adoption application describing to us the type of pug you are looking for (age, color, sex, etc.) and we will match you up with the first pug available meeting your description.

Update: 9/19/11:  I have great news!  I am officially ready to find my forever home.  I am extremely laid back but love to be pet.  I am at a healthy weight.  Maybe another pound or two, but I am good to go.  If you think you are the right home for me, please fill out an application and ask for me, Tater.

Update 8/2/11:  I am currently being monitored by the vet as my weight post heartworm treatment has been under where it should be.  The vet says in a another few weeks if I am improving I will be ready to find my forever home.  I love children and would prefer to be with a family.  I love to play and have plenty of energy and love to go around.  Please keep checking back to see how I’m doing.

Hi everyone!  I am a 7 year old apricot male and I am glad to be here!  I came from a breeder and was not kept in the best conditions.  I am heartworm positive and just started my treatment.  It will be a while before I’m ready for adoption, but please keep checking in to see how I’m doing.

I am already neutered and up to date on my shots, and micro-chipped.

Hi I am Tater’s foster mom. Tater is a mature, sweet dog. He is very calm and well-behaved. I feel Tater would fit best in a home where someone is not away from the home all day. He needs some company. Also he can be trusted to make himself at home and should not be confined to a crate. He is happiest in his bed or on your couch. He needs two walks a day as he is not one to just step outside and quickly do his business. Although his most playful years have passed and he is happiest just sitting next to you, he does have some spark still left in him. He would enjoy a home with children beyond toddler years and would enjoy being with another sweet dog.

Hi dad! I hope you are doing well. I am doing fabulous in my forever home. Love, Your Daughter Isabella

Is Tater still looking for a home? Interested in a rescue pug but looking for the right one. I live in West Palm Beach in a community called Riverwalk. I am home most of the time but do go out quite a bit, at times. I live alone. I lost my pug almost 2 years ago. I am very hesitant about a pug with health issues as I do no want to lose another dog except from old age.
    Would appreciate any feedback.

It is a long drive to Winter Gardens so that is why I am also hesitant.
    Thanks!
    Kate

Please feel free to submit an application for Tater. It will open up communication with you and our adoption coordinator and she will then be able to answer any questions you may have. Filling out an application does not commit you to the adoption but it does put you in line as we go by first come first serve.

Will Tater be making an appearance at Petco on Saturday, the 18th?!

        • Pug Rescue says:

Hi Linda. i am not sure. I email his foster mom and let her know you would be interested in meeting him and I will put her in contact with you. Thanks. Dana-Foster/Medical Director

Thanks for the quick response and I will look forward to hearing from his foster mom! If I don’t hear back I may just go ahead with submitting an application.

I’d like to ask again if Tater will make an appearance at the Petco-Sanford on March 4th?? That is close to home and I would love to see him and other pugs at that event!

    • Pug Rescue says:

Hi Linda, Tater will not be there on Sunday. We just received word, that his foster mom and family are going to be adopting him. They have fallen in love with him and cannot let him go. We will be moving him to adopted shortly. We just brought in 5 pugs this week. They are not all available for adoption yet, but please feel free to come out to the Petco in Sanford. We would love to meet you and help you find the right pug for your family. I know Bennie and Zoe are most likely going to be there and Maggie Mae may also be coming. I am not sure who else yet, but we would be happy to give you information.
      Thanks, Dana-Foster/Medical Coordinator
