Press Release for Adoption Event!!!!!

PRESS RELEASE ( 2 Related Events)

DATE: Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 (10am – 5pm)

EVENT #1: Pug Adoption Event by Central Florida Pug Rescue (CFPR)

LOCATION: High Tide Gallery, 51 Cordova Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084 / (904) 829-6831

DETAILS: A community event to accept applications by interested parties in adopting or fostering a currently-homeless Chinese Pug dog, to educate the public about the breed, and to raise donations for the not-for-profit, volunteer-run group CFPR. This is the second pug rescue adoption event and fundraiser hosted by High Tide Gallery, whose owner Aimee Wiles brings her rescued pug Buddi Love to work every day. Pugs available for adoption will be on hand at the event, which will continue on Sunday morning.

NEWS ANGLE: The sluggish economy is hurting everyone, and not only people. Puppy mills are unable to get $1200 for puppies anymore, causing them to surrender their middle-aged breeder dogs to rescue groups like CFPR, whose volunteers regularly drive to Georgia to pick up these abused dogs. Also, dog owners who lose their houses or downsize to apartments are both surrendering and abandoning their Pugs; several of the newest foster Pugs were found wandering the streets without food, water or care. This breed is one of the very sweetest of the dog family, and is also one of the most fragile to heat and dehydration. They make wonderful companions, are great with kids, and prefer to be with their owner(s) as much as possible.

COST: Free to attend; adoption fees vary per dog.

DATE: Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 (6pm – 8pm)

EVENT #2: Fundraiser Party for Central Florida Pug Rescue (CFPR)

LOCATION: Courtyard of Schmagel’s Bagels, 69 Hypolita Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084 / (around the corner from High Tide Gallery)

Tiny white lights illuminate Hypolita Street and all of downtown St. Augustine for a festive atmosphere. Proceeds benefit Central Florida Pug Rescue to cover medical attention for the surrendered and abandoned Pugs to prepare them for adoption.

COST: Pugs and other small dogs are FREE; People donate $15 at the door, which includes a pizza bagel dinner and drink from Schmagel’s.
