Miss Sol came to Central Florida Pug Rescue in December of 2008, and thanks to her wonderful parents, first foster and then permanent, Corrine and Glynne of Owned by Pugs, Sol’s adventures became a daily delight to the followers of the pug blog at www.ownedbypugs.com. Though she was in the “seasoned” age range of 15 or so and living with cancer, Sol taught us that age and infirmity need not dampen one’s enthusiasm for life, and that there is joy to be found in the simple things, like a walk on the beach or a bowl of spaghetti. Sol inspired us all, every single day we had the pleasure of knowing her.

Sol departed for the Rainbow Bridge on March 8, 2010, and in her memory Central Florida Pug Rescue is establishing the Sol “Sunshine” Memorial Fund. Contributions to the fund will be used exclusively for the care and comfort of those pugs in rescue who, like Sol, are of an age and with disabilities such that re-homing is a distant, if not impossible option. For those precious pugs CFPR will provide a loving home and all necessary medical and palliative care until they too cross the Rainbow Bridge. Sol has shown us that life is to be savored through all its twists and turns, and that all our pugs deserve every chance we can give them to live life to its fullest. Sol, we will be forever in your debt for teaching us in your own puggy way so much about our humanity.
